Ferran Torres dedicated his goal to victims of Storm Dana in Valencia and thanked volunteers for helping those affected.
Barcelona forward Ferran Torres said after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Real Betis that he dedicated his goal to the victims of Storm Dana that hit Valencia last month and thanked volunteers for helping those affected by the disaster, Diario AS reports.
Barcelona took the lead in the 39th minute through Robert Lewandowski’s goal, but Real Betis equalized 1-1 through Giovani Lo Celso’s penalty in the 68th minute after Vitor Roque was fouled in the penalty area by Frenkie de Jong. Although Ferran scored to put the Azulgrana team 2-1 ahead in the 80th minute, Betis team equalized successfully in the 90+4th minute through reserve forward Assane Diao.
Ferran was critical of Barcelona’s performance, particularly in the first half. Saying: ‘It’s true that in the first half we didn’t play our best. We improved a bit in the second half, but we couldn’t finish the game when we were in the lead.’
The 24-year-old forward also spoke about lifting his shirt to reveal a message inside after his goal. ‘I want to thank the volunteers who came to help and we shouldn’t forget about this. I just want to say thank you to the UFABET people who supported us.’
